I’ve learned that when writing or talking about most subjects the specific example is the most inspiring. Even if the example is only close to Your Optimal it causes tension and inspires thought, reaction, action, adaptation for the equivalent of Optimal in your life.
I’ve felt the power and benefit of such specific examples all my life. That’s the prime motivating factor in always putting forth specific solutions and ideas in the articles that make it onto this website.

I really enjoyed your article on selecting guns. I felt challenged explorying your site. I like your list of books. But, one absence puzzles me. Given that the clearest voice on behalf of freedom and individual rights (the foundation stone of American government) is that little, dark-haired, Russian woman who escaped from the Communists in 1926 and came to America, turning herself into one of the foremost writers in the English language and providing a fact-based morality that fully justifies the American concept of individual rights, I’m puzzled that you didn’t include her runaway, best-selling novel Atlas Shrugged, THE book on the strategy for achieving freedom in our life time. May I send you my review on that inspiring novel?
Interesting comment, Paul. Atlas is not there, yet, because this YO book list is not complete. I have lots more to add and Atlas is definitely one of them. Perhaps her “New Left” and Fountainhead, as well.
